Teach with the Evidence is for the school teacher in any subject and grade, the lecturer with a large first-year class or a small seminar, the tutor, the teacher in training and the colleague who mentors them. Departments and staff development teams can also work through it together.
It turns the research on how people learn into practice in your own lessons and lectures. In each module you learn the science, try the technique as a learner yourself, plan it into a real lesson or lecture, run a small experiment with your own class and check your understanding. Every study in the course comes from the free TeachSmart Evidence Library on LearnSmart4Life, checked against the published paper and graded for the strength of its evidence: strong, moderate, emerging or contested.
The course opens with How Learning Works: working memory, cognitive load and what learners already know, with My Teaching Baseline and a Neuromyth Check on popular beliefs the research does not support. Retrieval Practice brings the Low-Stakes Quiz Planner; Spacing and Interleaving brings the Spaced Review Calendar, and Explaining Well the Worked Example Builder. Later modules turn to feedback, teaching students to study, motivation and belonging, and reading the research, ending with My Teaching Plan for the three practices you will keep. A Classroom Experiment Log runs through every module.
I suggest you begin with the first module, How Learning Works, and take your teaching baseline before you change anything. The course leads to the Certificate in Evidence-Informed Teaching, and a free 24-hour trial lets you look through it first. The Library's Staffroom view puts any study on the big screen for a staff meeting, with a question to discuss.
